MY WHY

A Note from Jeff Jones

I’m pleased to announce our 2026 Jeff Hates Burpees 3-2-1 Challenge will take place during the first 321 days of 2026.

My plan is to perform a minimum of 1 set of Bring Sally Up (BSU) pushups (see example here - Push Up Challenge That Will Change Your Life (30 DAYS RESULTS)) each day for 321 days. Depending on contribution levels this may increase to up to 4 sets each day! Other participants may perform other challenges of their own design. Workouts of all types are welcome and, if participating, don’t feel compelled to do BSU pushups, any type of 3-2-1 themed workout is welcome – use your imagination and test yourself as desired!

People who know me are well aware, I love Tsingtao beer, and I jokingly say it serves as a strong WHY for me. All kidding aside, my true WHY is my son Alex (pictured). Alex is a shining example of the positive impact provided by ADULT LITERACY OHIO and DSACO. Alex has worked at Kroger for more than 20 years and lives independently. He is involved in a multitude of activities such as the ADULT LITERACY OHIO reading program, a weekly improv group and the Dancing With The Stars Gala (through DSACO) as well as many other affiliated and non-affiliated interests. Alex has an exceptionally active work and social life. All these things, either directly or indirectly, are based on the platform provided by ADULT LITERACY OHIO and DSACO. I’ve witnessed first hand what a rich and beautiful life is possible for those with special needs with just a a little push start. I want this for every person with a disability.

Down syndrome and other disabilities run across all ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Many are not resource-blessed. Adult Literacy Ohio and DSACO dramatically improve lives through so many best-in-class programs, and your participation and donations get leveraged for huge impacts.

By the way, the accompanying picture is my son Alex blocking others from bidding on a GALA silent auction item that he wanted. I cannot say to what level his reading skills were involved LOL! More than one way to win however, which he eventually did by just taking the clipboard with him to dinner. We may have created a monster.
