Misogi - definition pre and post
I blame my son-in-law Scott for introducing me to the concept of Misogi. Per Scott, the definition of Misogi is an endeavor in which the participant believes he/she has a 50/50 chance of completing. This is a valid pre-Misogi definition.
Scott, and our friend John Meier, are preparing to complete the Columbus Pelotonia. There are many distances available but Scott and John have chosen a 100 mile bike day followed by at least an 80 mile bike day the next. I believe this is crazy (and I've been professionally diagnosed as crazy - a story for another time).
Personally I've lost both parents and 3 grandparents to cancer. It is an unforgiving, heart breaking disease. Likely my own days will be ended by this disease. We need to find cures for the many types of cancer now.
I humbly submit there is a post-Misogi definition. My post-Misogi definition is "Would I do this crazy thing again". If the answer answer is "no" then it is likely a Misogi.
I don't want to live through losing another person I love to cancer. Let's end that particular Misogi. Please dial into Pelotonia and support the crazy people trying to help us all.
