Cancer, The James and other crazy people
There are many crazy people in this world. As I get older I draw comfort that I'm not the only one.
My son-in-law Scott, and his friend John, are training to ride the Columbus Pelotonia. Specifics of this year's ride are a little fuzzy for me but it is basically ride 100 miles (on a bike), party like it's 1999, then get up the next morning and ride 100 miles home.
While I admire the party spirit, this sounds like lunacy to me.
On the serious side of things, John lost his father to cancer at far to young an age. I never met John's dad but he sounded like a wonderful man of grace and courage.
I lost my parents to cancer and most of my grandparents to cancer as well. Frankly, it's a leading contender for how my life will end (although my stupidity is probably #1).
Tip of the hat to the women and men that accept that WHY and go for it! You are the Rock Stars of the craziness I embrace. Thank you.
Perhaps 2 or 3 of the 7 people reading this will reach out and support Scott and John. They are NUTS!
